As the end date of your contract approaches, you may be wondering whether your contract will be extended or if you should start looking for your next job. In this article, we will look at who you can speak with about extensions, what the process of being extended looks like, and what to do if you are ineligible for an extension.
Who can I speak with about getting an extension?
To initiate the process, it is advisable to have a discussion with your reporting manager. They can provide valuable insights into the organization's plans regarding contract extensions, taking into account factors such as budgets, project progress, and overall business requirements. Additionally, the duration of your contract tenure may also be a consideration, as some clients may require a break in service after a specific period of time, varying from client to client (e.g., after 24 consecutive months).
In the event that we receive a request to extend your contract, our team will promptly contact you to offer the extension. Rest assured that we prioritize effective communication and timely responses to keep you informed throughout the process.
What does the process look like?
- Decision from Manager: Your manager will assess whether to extend your contract and will communicate this decision to us to initiate the process.
- Notification and Verbal Acceptance: We will promptly reach out to you, informing you that the client wishes to extend your contract. We will require your verbal acceptance to proceed.
- Extension Letter: Our team will send you an Extension Letter (also known as Extension Schedule) for your review and signature.
- Signing and Finalization: Once you have carefully reviewed and signed the document, this will signify your agreement to the extension terms. Upon receiving your signed document, the extension will be processed and finalized.
You should be able to see the updated information on the Contractor Portal within the 'Work Orders' section within 3-5 business days, reflecting the changes made to your contract.
We aim to streamline this process to ensure there are no disruptions and keep you informed every step of the way.
