A new Rhode Island bill, effective January 1, 2025, requires employers with 50 or more employees to display a veterans' benefits and services poster in a conspicuous place accessible to employees in the workplace.
The poster must include information regarding the following services available to veterans:
- Contact and website information for the office of veterans services and the department's veterans' program;
- Substance abuse and mental health treatment;
- Educational, workforce, and training resources;
- Tax benefits;
- Rhode Island state veteran drivers' licenses and non-driver identification cards;
- Eligibility for unemployment insurance benefits under state and/or federal law;
- Legal services; and
- Contact information for the United States Department of Veterans Affairs veterans crisis line.
The state's Department of Labor and Training will consult with the Office of Veterans Services to create and distribute the poster. The poster does not appear to be available yet, so employers should monitor the Department of Labor and Training website for updates.
See attached poster for more details.
