On Feb. 27, 2024, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors adopted the Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers to provide equitable protections for individuals with criminal history seeking opportunities for gainful employment. An employer must engage in the Fair Chance process when adverse actions are taken based on the review of criminal history. This includes an employer’s withdrawal of a conditional job offer, and may include any employer decisions such as promotions, reassignment, discipline, and termination.
