As of January 1, 2026, employers who are subject to the City of San Mateo Business License Tax or maintain a facility in the City of San Mateo must pay all employees who work two (2) or more hours per week in the City of  San Mateo at least $18.60 per hour. This includes adults, minors, temporary employees, and part-time employees.
