If you lose your job or your hours are reduced, you may qualify for Unemployment Insurance (UI) benefits through the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). You can apply online at www.twc.texas.gov or by calling 1-800-939-6631. Local Workforce Solutions Offices also offer assistance—find a location at www.twc.texas.gov/directory-workforce-solutions-offices-services.

To apply, you’ll need your full legal name and Social Security number or legal work authorization.

Under the Texas Payday Law, employers must:

• Pay exempt employees (from overtime laws) at least once per month.

• Pay all other employees at least twice per month, with pay periods evenly spaced.

• Clearly post or provide scheduled payday information (monthly, semi-monthly, weekly, etc.).

Employers must display this notice where all employees can see it and also provide it to employees when they separate from the company.
