Key rights include:
Minimum Wage: $7.25/hour (since July 24, 2009).
Overtime Pay: At least 1.5x regular pay for hours over 40 in a workweek.
Child Labor: Limits apply based on age and job type. Hazardous jobs are restricted to those 18+, with special rules for those 14–15.
Pump at Work: Nursing employees must receive break time and a private space (not a bathroom) to express breast milk for 1 year after childbirth.
Enforcement & Protections
The Department of Labor may recover back wages, assess penalties, and take legal action for violations. Retaliation against employees who file complaints or participate in investigations is prohibited.
